7 out of 10 D2C merchants expect 2x-4x surge in sales this festive season: Simpl findings

  • Merchants like Snitch and Badmaash are increasing capacities, adding manpower and strengthening marketing spends to drive demand

Bengaluru, 01 November, 2023: With the onset of the festive season, nearly 7 out of 10 Direct-to-Customer (D2C) merchants selling products online are expecting a whopping 2x-4x increase in sales, according to a survey of hundreds of merchants across the country conducted by Simpl, India’s foremost Checkout Network. This comes on the back of an increasing number of consumers purchasing from D2C brands over the last few years to access products that fulfil their evolving requirements. The survey was conducted among hundreds of small, medium and large D2C merchants including Snitch, Fourth Dimension Club, Boult Audio, Superkicks, Italian Colony, and Badmaash to name a few participating in the survey.  

Among the product categories, about 53% of merchants surveyed anticipate apparel and ethnic wear to top the sales charts, followed by beauty and wellness, electronics and gadgets, and home decor. To complement the pent-up demand and cater to the high number of orders, an increasing number of merchants are investing in increasing their manufacturing and warehousing capacities, adding manpower, and strengthening spends on digital and influencer marketing among others. More importantly, these merchants are also focused on offering a seamless checkout experience to customers on their platforms, akin to large e-commerce marketplaces, with solutions such as Simpl’s 1-tap Checkout to improve conversions, reduce return to origin (RTO) and Cash on Delivery orders.
